LGBT Photography in California

As a couple’s photographer with a special love for LGBT photography, I had the absolute pleasure to be a part of a session that embodies the beauty of LGBTQ love. Love finds its way into the hearts of many people, and it is remarkable… it is diverse… it is amazing and romantic in all of its ways! I was truly honored to highlight this LGBTQ couple’s love – it can shift the limits of the world and replace them with something pure and beautiful – just like J+K!

First, for this LGBT photography session that embodies a beautiful couple in love, we visited the Pismo Dunes in Pismo Beach, CA. Second, J + K wore flowy outfits to match the ethereal flair of the photo session. Third, their love for each other was very evident. Walking hand in hand was loving and fun! The session turned out to be fabulous! Their impressive and amazing story shows their personalities. Here’s more about them.

J+K love story

J: “We acknowledged our feelings for one another at a protest in the Los Angeles area. That night, K spent the night in jail, and I was utterly distraught until I knew she was released. After several days I held a meeting at my house. When we saw each other, I ran up and folded her into my arms. It took me a while to process my feelings because I was already in a relationship. She enthralled with he. I couldn’t even keep myself from talking about her with my current partner.”

K: “On George Floyd’s birthday memorial, we three met. After her boyfriend left, J and I were attached at the hip for the rest of the night. That weekend, our relationship became official. Before going to Palm Springs with our activist group, I confessed my feelings in a text to another friend in a similar situation. However, I accidentally sent it to J. We confessed our mutual feelings to each other, and the rest is history. After we moved in together, our relationship has always felt like destiny, as if we’ve been together for lifetimes.”

What do you love most about your Partner?

K: “I love that J provides my life with an anchor to be entirely spontaneous, while offering total stability and security.”

J: “Every single day K takes my breath away. She is transcendent.”

What is your favorite activity to do together?

“We love traveling together. Our relationship flourished in places that neither of us had ever seen before and visiting places we’d visited in the past.”

How did you feel about Renoda asking you to participate in this editorial? Were you excited/or had apprehension for this photo shoot?

“We were thrilled! Renoda is a highly skilled, deeply creative couple’s photographer. She is a collaborative artist and engages with her clients/subjects. K was nervous, as she hadn’t really been in front of a camera since she quit acting to focus on her transition. Renoda felt like an old friend as soon as they met. Her liberating, and soothing professionalism felt exciting, and just plain fun!”

Did the session turn out to your satisfaction?

“We couldn’t have been happier with how our photos turned out! J told me about Renoda long before she photographed us . She said to me ‘when we get married, I want Miss Renoda to shoot our wedding.’”
